Delhi cool to offer

NEW DELHI, May 23: India on Friday responded to a Pakistani suggestion for a moratorium on nuclear testing by saying New Delhi already had a unilateral ban in place.

“India has a unilateral prohibition on nuclear testing,” Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna told reporters.

Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Riaz Kokar had suggested several steps which Pakistan wanted to discuss with India, including formalization of a moratorium on nuclear testing and an agreement not to use nuclear arms.—AFP
