Steps taken to thwart terrorism: minister

ISLAMABAD, May 3: Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat on Saturday said the government had taken measures to thwart any act of sabotage or terrorism.

Commenting on reports that Al Qaeda was planning an aerial suicide attack against the United States consulate in Karachi, the minister said there was no need to worry since elaborate steps had been taken in this regard.

He said such advisories were for the US authorities only and had nothing to do with the Pakistan government, still actions had been taken, especially in Karachi, to discourage any terrorist act.—Staff Reporter
