SIALKOT, May 3: Four people were killed while six others injured seriously when Sheikhupura-bound wagon fell into the BRB Canal after hitting a buffalo near Mianwali Bangla bridge (Satrah), Daska tehsil.

The barat of Javaid, son of Budda Goraya’s village lumberdar Riasat Ali, in the wagon (AJK-B 3648) was going from Sialkot to Mahay village, Sheikhupura, when the fatal accident occurred. Consequently, Munawar Hussain, Safdar Bashir, Master Basharat Ali and Shabbir Ahmad died instantly while Shahid, Zafar, Afzal, Shaukat, Tariq and Iftikhar suffered serious injuries. They were admitted to a Daska hospital in critical condition.

Three bodies were fished out by villagers from the canal while the body of Shabbir Ahmad was yet to be recovered. The ill-fated wagon was also pulled out from the canal. The accident also claimed the life of buffalo.

Satrah police have registered a case.

DISMISSED: Sialkot DPO Amjad Javaid Saleemi on Saturday dismissed ASI Abdul Majid, and two constables Muhammad Ashraf and Muhammad Ashfaq of the Phalora police station due to negligence of their duty.
