HYDERABAD, May 3: The judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court, Hyderabad, Syed Ali Ashraf Shah, here on Friday awarded the capital punishment to two convicts in a robbery-cum-murder case after re-hearing of the case.

Aurangzeb and Ashraf were also convicted for possession of unlicensed weapons and resorting to terrorism under relevant sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Pakistan Penal Code.

Both the convicts would also have to undergo 29 years of rigorous imprisonment each and pay a fine of Rs275,000 each.

The case against the convicts was registered on June 6, 2000, with the Jhuddo police after a man was shot dead by them during a robbery.

According to the prosecution case, the convicts snatched a motorcycle and a gold ring from a customer at the tea agency of Babu Sohail and looted Rs1500.

The deceased Irfan offered stiff resistance and was fired upon, resulting in his death on the spot.
