HYDERABAD, April 25: There is an urgent need to eliminate bottlenecks in the Right Bank Outfall Drain project, including payment of compensation against land acquisition.

This was said by the DCO, Dadu, Aijaz Mangi, on Thursday while presiding over a special meeting at the Kotri camp office. The meeting was convened to consider the controversial issue of payment for the acquired lands.

Stressing the need for greater cooperation among stakeholders, the DCO cautioned officers against bottlenecks in this regard, saying they would face difficulties in completion of the project if they did not cooperate with the local people.

Former speaker of the Sindh assembly Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah also attended the meeting and represented the people of the area.

The chief engineer, irrigation, Bashir Ahmed Dahar, land acquisition officer, Ahmed Qazi and other concerned officials also attended the meeting.

On the occasion, Jalal Mehmood Shah said that some apprehensions had been voiced by the people of the area, adding that these apprehensions should be removed.

Later, the meeting appointed a committee, comprising Nazimeen of the area, local landlords, officials of the irrigation and revenue departments, to survey the entire area and determine the amount of compensation.

AHLE HADEES: The Markazi Jamaat Ahle Hadees, Sindh, on Thursday extended its support to the Legal Framework Order, saying that under the prevailing international situation, it was necessary for the president to retain the post of the chief of the army staff.

Speaking at a news conference here on Thursday, the provincial Amir of the Jamaat, Amir Abdullah Farooqui, its deputy Amir, Maulana Fauzul Kabir and the Jamaat’s general secretary, Karachi, Maulana Murtaza Khan Rehmani, blamed India and Israel for conspiring against Pakistan, adding that previous governments had all but destroyed the country’s economy.

Gen Pervez Musharraf, they said, had strengthened the economy and had also brought about political stability by amending the Constitution.

They said that members of the present assemblies had been elected under the LFO but they were destroying the sanctity of the Parliament by creating a controversy over the same.

Leaders of the Markazi Jamaat Ahle Hadees accused Mian Nawaz Sharif of spending money to sabotage the elected government, saying that it was motivated by his personal enmity with Gen Musharraf.

They claimed that the Jamaat would soon launch a movement to mobilise public opinion in favour of the LFO.
