Waqas hits century

ISLAMABAD, April 24: Waqas Zafar scored a century as NHA beat CRA by just two runs in the ICA-PTV League Cricket Championship.

NHA hit up 263 for seven off their 50 overs with Waqas cracking a fine 101 and Muhammad Salman scoring 45. Asher Zaidi and Khalid bowled well to take two wickets each.

CRA were powered by a knock of 65 from Asher, Adnan Kashif’s 44 and a 40-run contribution by Aftab Awan. However, their chase fell short and they ended up scoring 261 for nine. The top wicket-taker was Maqsood who claimed three for 37 with Usman Saeed taking two for 34.

NHA bt CRA by two runs. NHA 263-7 in 50 overs (Waqas Zafar 101, Muhammad Salman 45; Asher Zaidi 2-45, Khalid 2-64); CRA 261-9 (Asher Zaidi 65, Adnan Kashif 44, Aftab Awan 40, Kashif Majeed 39; Maqsood 3-37, Usman Saeed 2- 34).

National bt Galaxy by three wickets. Galaxy 203 in 41.3 overs (Ramzan Khan 33, Wasim 27, Hadier Abbas 25; Abdul Rehman 3-16, Ghulam Muhammad 3-31, Muhammad Ayub Khan 3-52); National 206-7 in 44.1 overs (Muhammad Tahir 76 not out, Muhammad Shahid 23 not out; Sohail Khan 3-41, Ramzan Khan 2-56).

XI Star bt PBC by six wickets. PBC 162 all out in 36.3 overs (Muhammad Naeem 63; Asim Rana 4-23, Fiaz 2-21, Danish Hanif 2-27); XI Star 163-4 in 27.4 overs (Muhammad Fiaz 68, Bilal Ali 50; Imran Khan three wkts).

Mehran bt ITR by two runs. Mehran 232 in 44.5 overs (Kashif Amin Butt 62, Muhammad Asim Abbasi 52; Shakeel Ahmed 3-27, Shoaib Niaz 3-53); ITR 230-9 in 45 overs (Sheraz Ahmed 56, Shoaib Niaz 49, Iltaf Hussain 33; Asim Abbasi 2-24, Shakeel Ahmed 2-40).
