DBA office-bearers served notices

LARKANA, April 24: The division bench of the Sindh High Court, circuit court, Larkana, on Thursday issued pre-admission notices to the sitting office-bearers and the members of the managing committee of the District Bar Association (DBA), Larkana, to appear in the court on May 2 regarding a constitutional petition filed against them.

The division bench comprised of Justice Wahid Bakhsh Brohi and Justice Mujeebullah Siddiqui.

A senior lawyer, Zia Ahmed Jalbani, invoking article 199 of the Constitution, had filed a petition in the Larkana bench of the Sindh court on Wednesday wherein he had challenged the legitimacy of the Larkana Bar Association’s body.

On Thursday, Zia Ahmed Jalbani appeared before the division bench and pleaded the case for issuing pre-admission notices to the respondents.

WINE SEIZED: The Naudero police late Wednesday night intercepted a Kandhkot-bound wagon and seized 360 bottles of smuggled whisky and 600 bottles of beer.

Police have arrested a man, Dewan Lal, and a driver, Khushal Khan, after registering an FIR with the Naudero police station. The wagon was impounded.

SUSPENDED: The DPO, Larkana, on Thursday suspended two assistant sub-inspectors, Hadi Bakhsh Khoharo and Basheer Ahmed Brohi, for keeping a man, Mukhtar Kalhoro, in habeas corpus.

A case against them was registered with the Waleed police station.

SUICIDE: A man, Abdul Hameed Shaikh, 51, committed suicide by shooting himself in the Panjoodero village, near Naudero, on Thursday.
