ADP members boycott DC proceedings

By Our Correspondent

SANGHAR, April 24: Members of the Awam Dost Panel boycotted the poceeding of the District Council for the second consecutive day here on Thursday.

When an ADP member, Yaqoob Kakepoto, tried to speak he was not allowed by the convener as a result of which ADP members left the hall.

Another member of the District Council, Amanullah Shar, said the package announced by Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali will only benefit the habitual defaulters and no relief would be provided to those who regularly pay their loans and were really hit by shortage of irrigation water and natural calamities.

Some members pointed out that the monitoring committees had failed to monitor the departments concerned.

It was demanded that the Public Safety Commission should be activated in the district like other districts.

Dr Hashim Khaskheli demanded that all the schemes should be implemented after approval by the council.

ADP members, Yaqoob Kakepoto, Saindad Rind, Khadim Rind, Pir Koral Shah, Waseem Kaim Khani and Yaqoob Kaim Khani, while talking to newsmen outside the District Council hall said that development schemes worth Rs890 million were completed or near the completion without the approval of council members.

They alleged that except a few members, no one knew how and where these huge funds were spent. They further alleged that all ADP members were ignored and no development scheme was initiated to their constituencies.

They met with the district coordination officer, A. Ditto Shar, and informed him about the situation. He assured them that he would look into the matter.

The next session of the council will be held on May 7.

BURN INJURIES: At least nine huts were gutted in a fire as a result of which two people, Lachmi and Devo Mal, received burn injuries in the Chaudhry Saleem Ahmed village, some 25 kms away from here, on Wednesday.
