Transporters told to reduce fares

NAWABSHAH, April 19: Sindh Chief Secretary K. B. Rind has asked transporters to reduce fares after the fall in prices of petroleum products.

Talking to newsmen at the circuit house here on Saturday, Mr Rind said he had directed the DCO to hold a meeting with transporters in this regard.

About the irrigation system, the chief secretary said the government had allocated Rs30 billion for improving the system.

Earlier, speaking at a meeting with municipal administration officials and area residents, the chief secretary said Rs10 million had been approved for beautification of the Nawabshah town.

Mr Rind said development works being carried out in the town would be inspected and the DCO and other higher authorities concerned would be held responsible if substandard material was used.

BODY FOUND: The body of an infant was found near the Edhi Centre here on Saturday.

Edhi volunteers buried the body.

MAN KILLED: An unidentified man was electrocuted after he came in contact with a power wire on the Kutchehry Road here on Saturday.
