KHAIRPUR, April 19: Hundreds of workers belonging to the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz on Saturday took out a procession to protest against tribal clashes.
The rally, after marching on the main roads, converted into a public meeting at the Panj Gulla Chowk.
Speakers on the occasion, representatives of protesters termed tribal clashes a conspiracy to keep the people of SIndh divided. They urged tribal elders to strike peace deals in their respective areas.dies in fire: A three-year-old boy, Taufiq Ahmed, was killed on Friday night in a fire, which gutted five houses located in the kutcha area of the Sobhodero taluka.
The fire, originating from the house of Pyar Ali Chandio, also engulfed the houses of Noor Mohammad, Ashiq Ali, Mohammad Bakar and Imdad Faqir Channa.
Taufiq Ahmed was the son of Pyar Ali Channa.
Some goats, and other valuable items were reduced to ashes.
The taluka Nazim, Syed Kazim Shah, helped in the efforts to extinguish the fire.
Meanwhile, the house of Ghulam Akbar Shar was reduced to ashes because of a short circuit in the Pehalwan Shar village.
TEACHERS: An emergency meeting of the Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers Society was held here on Saturday.
The meeting was presided over by the Society’s president Prof Abdul Latif Memon.
Participants criticized the statement of the vice chancellor of the university in which he had blamed the teachers for the deteriorating quality of education.
The meeting said that policies, adopted by administrators of institutions, were responsible for deterioration of the quality education.
CANNABIS: The railway police seized 185kg cannabis from a bogey of the Tezro Express at Setharja railway station on Friday.
