ISLAMABAD, April 18: The local chapter of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Friday staged a protest demonstration against the Legal Framework Order (LFO) here in front of parliament.

At the same time, when the PPP and People’s Students Federation activists were raising slogans outside parliament, the Opposition was protesting against the LFO in the National Assembly.

Led by Babar Minhas, the president of PPP Islamabad, the demonstrators chanted slogans like “LFO not acceptable,” and “go Musharraf go.” They were also carrying placards inscribed with anti-LFO slogans.

The PPP parliamentarians, including Ms Naheed Khan, Qamar Zaman Kera, Zamurd Khan, Chaudhry Manzoor, Zulfikar Gondal and Tasleem Qureshi also participated in the protest.

They protesters also called for a safe return of the former prime minister and PPP chairperson, Benazir Bhutto.

They said Benazir was the only leader, who could sail the country out of present political quagmire.

They also demanded the release of Asif Ali Zardari and criticized the government for implicating him in fabricated cases.
