Govt-opposition talks on LFO soon: Jamali

RAWALPINDI, April 17: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said that the government was serious in holding negotiations on the Legal Framework Order with the opposition; they would be invited for talks in a couple of days.

The prime minister was talking to newsmen after inaugurating Jaafer Express at a local railway station here on Thursday. He said that the government was flexible on the LFO issue, but the opposition continues to issue strong statements.

Replying to a question about the PML-N leader Javed Hashmi’s reported statement that they would not allow the assembly to function, the prime minister said that he (Hashmi) was not speaker of the assembly.

Mr Jamali added that parliament’s primary duty was to discuss issues of the national importance. If it was not allowed to function, it would be everyone’s loss, he added.

The prime minister said that the PML-Q and its allied parties would soon meet to finalize a strategy for the joint session of parliament. He added that the government was not in a hurry to hold the joint session. —APP
