Four killed in Valley

SRINAGAR, April 16: Indian troops gunned down two Mujahideen in Kashmir, as freedom fighters overnight murdered a constable and a man they suspected to be a police spy, officials said on Wednesday.

The two unidentified Kashmiris were killed near the resort of Kokernag, 70 kilometres south of Srinagar, on Wednesday during an encounter, a police spokesman here said.

A cowshed where the Kashmiris were hiding was also destroyed in the fierce firefight.

Mujahideen late on Tuesday shot dead Mohammed Malik, a civilian they thought spied for the police and a Muslim constable in southern Pulwama district, the spokesman said.

So far no one has owned the responsibility.—AFP
