NBP and PTCL qualify for final

FAISALABAD, April 14: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on Monday scored contrasting victories to qualify for the final of the national junior hockey championship.

PTCL outplayed Railways 3-1 with PTCL’s Shakeel Abbasi scoring the first goal in the first half, while M. Imran of Railways equalized soon after re-start.

PTCL’s Akhtar and Tariq Aziz slammed home in the 62nd and 64th minutes to complete the tally.

In the other semifinal, NBP edged past Pakistan Army 1-0. NBP’s Asim Khan broke the ice by netting the solitary goal five minutes after resumption.

The final will be played on Wednesday between NBP and PTCL, while Railways and Army clash for the third position on Tuesday.—APP
