HEC launches support scheme

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 6: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has launched a scheme entitled ‘young talent support programme in higher education’ for all public sector universities and institutions in Pakistan.

This was stated by the HEC chairman, Prof (Dr) Attaur Rehman.

He said recognition and support of young and talented students with interests in science, technology and social sciences was an effective means of attracting the brightest youth for higher studies.

The majority of higher educational institutions in Pakistan lack institutional and human research and educational projects.

He said there was therefore an urgent need to develop a highly qualified students force in Pakistan.

The proposed scheme focuses on helping talented students with proven abilities and interest in higher education to achieve excellence in their chosen disciplines.
