KARACHI, April 4: The Sindh government on Friday constituted a two-member committee, comprising Jacobabad DCO Buxial Khan Gudaro, and Karachi DIG (SRP) Mohammad Bachal Sangri to probe into the Kashmor killings, which occurred on March 31.

The following are the Terms of Reference of the committee:

— to ascertain the circumstances leading to the Kashmor incident;

— to determine whether the incident was a result of slackness on part of the concerned police officials and establish the role of the supervisory officers;

— to ascertain the conduct of other agencies, that is, rangers, and the Frontier Constabulary deployed in the area to prevent the attackers from coming to Kashmor from Balochistan as well as intercepting them while they were returning after the incident;

— to probe the jamming of telephone exchange from 5am on the day of the incident hampering telephone communication to intercept the attackers while they were escaping;

— to fix the responsibility for the administration’s failure in preventing the incident; and,

— to recommend action against the concerned personnel and suggest appropriate measures to prevent such incident in the future.

The inquiry committee has been directed to submit its report to the provincial home department within the next two weeks.—APP
