Contaminated Imported tea seized

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, April 4: Customs on Friday seized a consignment of contaminated black tea imported from Dubai at the National Logistics Cell’s dry port.

According to sources, customs authorities, on the basis of a tip-off had sent samples of the tea to the industrial analytical centre at H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, Karachi, for test.

The test revealed that the tea was not fit for human consumption.

The authorities seized 26.4 tons of tea.

A case has been registered against the importer.

Sources said the tea was stocked at Dubai dry port for many years and a Quetta-based company had purchased it.
