KARACHI, April 3: Maulana Fazlur Rahman, secretary-general of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, on Thursday appealed to the peace-loving countries and the UN to intervene into Us-led invasion of Iraq to protect life and property of innocent Iraqi people.

“The way France, Germany and Russia opposed the US-led war against Iraq in the security council, it has now incumbent upon them to use force against coalition forces to protect Iraq”, he said while speaking a reception, hosted by the Wholesale Chemists Council in Karachi.

Criticising the US government, the MMA leader said the US wanted to achieve its hegemonic designs and occupy resources of the world at any cost.

In doing so, it least cares about UN charter, Geneva Convention or any other peace treaty, he added.

He maintained that besides Asian and African countries, a majority of the European countries are opposing US designs and due to European countries’ fear of using the right of veto, the US and UK unilaterally invaded Iraq.

“So far in the history of the UN, the US had vetoed over 75 resolutions and now when one of its resolutions was threatened to be vetoed by other countries, it withdrew that resolution”, he added.

He said Pakistani people should extend an whole-hearted support to their Iraqi brethren and they should also provide financial assistance to the Iraqi people. Maulana Fazlur Rehman appealed to the nation to boycott the US and Jewish products.—PPI
