SIALKOT, April 2: Two persons were shot dead while as many sustained serious injuries when six armed men opened fire on them over an old enmity in Rachchara village (Motra), Daska tehsil,
Landlord Muhammad Ashraf and his younger brother Muhammad Amjad were going to their home on Pajero (AJK-2764). Near poultry farm, Shehzad Khan, Sadiq Khan, Kashif alias Kashi, Muhammad Anwar, Shehbaz Khan and Goshi Khan opened fire on them from a nearby field. As a result, Amjad and Arif died on the spot while Shahid and Kashif received critical bullet wounds. Later, the killers escaped while firing in the air.
Motra police have registered a case.
It was the third brutal murder incident in the jurisdiction of Motra police station during the last 24 hours. People have strongly protested against the rising incidents of murder, dacoity, robbery and theft in Daska tehsil.
Meanwhile, injured Amjad Khan, the councillor of Pandorian union council, Daska, succumbed to his injuries in a Lahore hospital.
Some unidentified gunmen had shot and injured him seriously on Tuesday when he was present in the house of his lover ‘R’ at Muhallah Mission, Daska.
DEMO: Various religious organizations on Wednesday took out an anti-America demonstration in Daska.
The protesters carrying placards chanted slogans against the US and its allies for killing innocent Iraqi citizens. They also burnt the effigies of President Bush and Prime Minister Blair.
Local leaders of religious parties urged the world community to halt the US-led war in Iraq immediately.
VISIT: The Federal Minister for Industries, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, will visit the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Thursday (today).
He will address a meeting of the local business community at the SCCI at 11am. Later, the minister will also visit the Sialkot Dryport at Sambrial, Daska.
CONSTRUCTION WORK: The Narowal-based MNA, Begum Riffat Javaid Kahloon, has said the construction work of Nullah Baeen and Narowal-Lahore Road alongside the railways track will soon be taken in hand.
In a press release issued here on Wednesday, she said that Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali had assured the early provision of funds necessary for these projects.
