KARACHI: PWs testify in murder case


KARACHI, April 2: Two more prosecution witnesses testified on Wednesday before Haq Nawaz Baloch, judge of the anti-terrorism court (ATC-V), in a double-murder case.

ASI Naveed and Head Constable Hassan Raza of Shah Faisal Colony police station deposed about the registration of an FIR and arrest of the accused.

Syed Nadeem Hussain Shah, special public prosecutor, conducted the examination-in-chief. The accused were represented by M.R. Syed, provided to the accused on state expense. The accused include Mohammed Ajmal, alias Akram Lahori, an alleged terrorist belonging to the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi.

According to the prosecution, the accused fired and killed Anwar Tirmizi and another man, who were sitting at the corner of a lane in the jurisdiction of Shah Faisal Colony police station, in May 2002.

The court, holding trial inside the Central Prison, put off the hearing till Monday.—APP
