SIALKOT, March 20: The US-led invasion of Iraq has created a panic among all peace-loving countries in the world.
This was stated by ambassador of Germany to Pakistan Dr Christoph Brummer while talking to newsmen at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Thursday.
He said Germany being a peace-loving country would oppose the war at all platforms. He also termed the US-led war against Iraq a ‘sad day’ for the UN.
He said Germany had a clear policy that the US had no justification to invade Iraq. He said only the US and its allies would be responsible for the mass killing of innocent citizens in Iraq.
VEHARI: The local anti-war committee took out a protest procession against the US attack on Iraq.
The protesters carrying placards and banners marched through the main roads and raised slogans against the US and its allies.
At the end of the procession, speakers Mirza Ejaz Beg, Shafiq Bhatti and Syed Nadeem Raza Bukhari criticized President Bush and UK Prime Minister Blair for disturbing world peace.
They said millions of people around the world had demonstrated against the attack on Iraq, but the US and its allies paid no heed. They said the attack on Iraq would not only open the door of international terrorism, but also end the role of UN in world affairs.
Meanwhile, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal also staged an anti-US rally.
Starting from the Pakistan Chowk, the procession terminated at the TMA Chowk after parading on main roads where local MMA leaders Abdul Khaliq, Rao Khalil and Tufail Warraich addressed the gathering and criticized the foreign policy of the government.
The local District Bar Association boycotted the courts in protest against the US attack on Iraq.
GUJRANWALA: Religious parties started protest campaign against the US-led coalition forces for invading Iraq.
After listening to the news of attack, the activists of religious parties gathered at the GT Road. The processionists were carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti-US slogans.
Speakers said President Bush and his associates were the killers of humanity.
MULTAN: Scores of people took out a protest procession against war on Iraq.
The procession was led by the Anti-War Committee’s convener in south Punjab, Seraikistan Qaumi Inqalabi Party chief Mansoor Karim Siyal. The procession started from Nawan Shehr Chowk and terminated at Ghanta Ghar Chowk.
They protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against US-led war mania and in favour of peace. Representatives of various political parties and non-governmental organizations also took part in rally.
Prominent among them were Malik Attaullah of Kisan Committee, MA Bhutta of the Seraiki National Party, Mahfooz Shujaat of the Communist Mazdoor Kisan Party, Irfan Haider Shamsi of the Communist Party of Pakistan, Sohail Javed of the Labour Party Pakistan, Farhat Abbas of the National Workers Party, Aftab Mughal of the Justice and Peace Commission, Nadeem Shah of the Multan Union of Journalists, Mustafa Baloch of the South Punjab NGOs Forum and Mahmood Nizami of the Seraikistan Qaumi Inqalabi Party.
