Woman councillor shifted

Published March 17, 2003

KHAIRPUR, March 16: Ms Noor Khatoon Shar was shifted from here to an undisclosed location on Sunday, most probably Karachi, in view of the persistent threat to her life.

A jirga had earlier decided that the woman councillor should be killed as a Kari since she did not want to live with her husband.

It has been learnt that Ms Noor was accompanied by the district Nazim, Nafisa Shah.

The possibility that Ms Noor was shifted to Islamabad could not be ruled out in view of the gravity of the situation.
