LAHORE, March 9: The City District Government officials reviewed on Sunday the arrangements for the inauguration of the Allama Iqbal International Airport.

President Pervez Musharraf is expected to inaugurate the new airport on March 17.

District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood and other officials of the City District Government visited the new airport.

They were informed that the new airport over 71,000 square metres had been developed at a cost of Rs10 billion. The number of passengers using it was expected to increase to 6.5 million in next 10 years.

They were further informed that the new airport terminal had seven boarding bridges, 55 check-in counters, a restaurant, courier service, currency exchange and telecommunication facilities.

The District Nazim directed that arrangements should be made for the security of the passengers at the new airport. He also ordered removal of encroachments on the road leading to the new airport and arrangements for starting radiocab service for the convenience of the passengers.
