LAHORE, March 9: The Punjab government has sought a report on the alleged use of torture against deputy opposition leader MPA Rana Sanaullah.

A Punjab home department official said the report had been sought by provincial law minister Raja Mohammad Bisharat. He said the order had been passed on to Faisalabad DIG Altaf Qamar. “Mr Qamar has been directed to probe the incident and submit a report at the earliest.”

The DIG was contacted twice, but he was not available for comments in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Punjab chapter of the PML-N strongly condemned the incident and termed it state terrorism.

Punjab PML-N president Sardar Zulfikar Khosa and general secretary Khwaja Saad Rafiq deplored the kidnapping and use of torture against the MPA in a joint statement.
