BULAWAYO, March 3: Pakistan’s opening batsman Taufiq Umar missed the team flight from Johannesburg on Sunday as he was without a passport but was expected to rejoin teammates here sometime on Monday.
“The young man had left his passport with a foreign embassy for stamping of visa and had erroneously thought that it may have been delivered back to the team officials,” according to the team spokesman.
“When the youngster reached the Johannesburg airport, it transpired that his passport was still with the embassy,” the spokesman said.
“There was no option but to leave him back for a day and to ensure that he is safely back with the team on Monday.”—APP
