HONG KONG, Jan 14: A Hong Kong court jailed a Pakistani national for 18 months after he tried to illegally enter the territory in a suitcase, the South China Morning Post reported on Tuesday.

The court heard that Raja Kamran, 24, was found curled up inside a 54 by 80cm suitcase that India national Pardeep Singh had tried to carry across the border from Shenzhen in mainland China, it said.

Immigration officers stopped Singh, 22, at the Lowu border with the suitcase on Dec 26.

Kamran had been banned from Hong Kong for life for previous offences and was deported to Pakistan last August.

Singh pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting Kamran. His trial was put down for a later date.—AFP
