HYDERABAD, Jan 6: The People’s Party Parliamentarians has criticized horse-trading in the Sindh Assembly and the use of government machinery for installing a minority government in the Sindh province.

This was said in a resolution, adopted at a PPP gathering, held here on Sunday to mark the 75th birth anniversary of the founder of the party, the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Criticizing the appointment of Dr Ishratul Ibad as the Sindh governor, another resolution called for rolling back “the agenda of injustices against the people of Sindh”.

In yet another resolution it expressed concern over the attempts of the government to deprive the PPP, which had emerged as the largest party in Sindh, of its constitutional and legal right of forming a government in the province.

The gathering demanded of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto to close the doors of the party on those, who had changed their loyalties, and said that the turncoats had died a political death.

The meeting deplored that Sindh had not been provided with its due share of water, which had been destroying its agriculture-based economy. It called for giving due share of water to the province.

The meeting also criticized lawlessness in the province, saying that the provincial government had failed to control it.

It condemned killings of the members of Christian community in Daska and Chianwali and demanded arrest of the culprits.

The meeting paid tribute to the services, rendered by late Bhutto, and pledged to accelerate the pace of struggle for the accomplishment of his mission.

Sindh PPP president Nisar Ahmed Khuhro presided over the function.

Tribute: Speakers at a condolence meeting held here on Sunday paid tribute to the late Dr G. M. Bhurgari for the services he had rendered in the cause of Sindh.

The meeting was organized under the aegis of the Sindh Hari Committee.

The speakers said the late Dr Bhurgari, who had remained the chairman of the Sindh National Congress, was a man of principles and a true nationalist.

They said Sindh was passing through a very critical stage and added problems of people could not be resolved by raising empty slogans.

They stressed the need for launching a struggle for the rights of the people.

In his presidential speech, Sindh Hari Committee (SHC) chief Azhar Jatoi said Dr Bhurgari had worked for the rights of Sindhi people throughout his life.

He said the establishment wanted to isolate Sindh.

About the glaring unemployment ratio in the province, Jatoi said joblessness had compelled people to commit suicide.

The SHC chief said the shortage of water in the province had also added to the miseries of the people.

He demanded the Kalabagh dam and the greater Thal canal project should be shelved. He said the SHC would soon launch a movement on water issue.
