JACOBABAD, Jan 2: The Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam (JUI), Jacobabad, held a protest demonstration on Thursday against the deteriorating law and order situation in the district and the US plans to strike Iraq.
The rally marched through the streets of the town. It stopped at the Sarafa Bazaar Chowk where JUI leaders — Haji Rashid Ahmed Siyal, Dr A. G. Ansari, and Qari Mohammad Shafi Khoso — gave speeches.
They condemned the US for its atrocities committed against the Muslims and vowed to foil its designs.
The leaders demanded of the police to make sincere efforts to improve the law and order situation in Jacobabad which had gone from bad to worse.
They said that it was the personal responsibility of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Sindh Chief Minister Mahar to control crime in Jacobabad.
SMUGGLED GOODS: The anti-smuggling squad of Customs, headed by DSP Malik Qayoom, raided a coach (PA-272), near the Umrani check post, and recovered thousands of meters of smuggled cloth, carpets, grease cans, biscuits, cigarettes, and other valuable goods.
The Customs registered a case against the accused under the Customs Act.
