ISLAMABAD, Dec 28: An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale jolted parts of the NWFP on Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of any injury or damage.

An official of the Seismic Centre in Peshawar told Reuters by telephone that the quake was felt in Dir district.

“The quake recorded at 9:10am was also felt here in Peshawar,” the official added.

He said the epicentre was 250 km north of Peshawar near the Afghan border in the Hindu Kush mountain range. “It must have been felt in Afghanistan as well,” he added.
