KARACHI, Dec 18: Work on planting trees and floral saplings on roads and roundabouts under the beautification campaign of the City District Government Karachi is in full swing.

According to the city government, almost one thousand big trees have been planted on University Road from old Sabzi Mandi to the Civic Centre, while work on planting flower saplings from Civic Centre to the university will be completed this week.

The work on developing greenery on Rashid Minhas Road has also been initiated. Similarly, plantation campaign is in progress on Shahrah-i-Pakistan, Shahrah-i-Ibne Sina, S. M. Taufeeq Road and Mauripur Road.

At least 5,000 trees and flower plants are also being planted on Hawkesbay Road, from Gulbai to Mauripur village.

City Naimatullah Khan visited these areas along with the concerned officials and issued directives for planting more trees and taking proper care of them. He instructed the officials to plant Bogan Bela creepers for beautification purposes.

The Nazim visited the nurseries maintained by the city government and was informed that about four thousand creepers of Bogan Bela would be planted on big roads within the next few days.

Meanwhile, the eleventh session of Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town council, with Engineer Sabir Ahmed in the chair, also decided to undertake beautification plan in the Town.

The meeting decided to provide different sizes of pots along with sweet earth manure for the purpose.—PPI
