KARACHI, Dec 17: Three ships carrying DAP fertilizer and sugar for Afghanistan are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was active where five ships were berthed to unload and load containers and crude oil: They are: Dainty River, Kota Teraju, Mar Challenger and Kota Waris to offload and load containers and LMZ Christina to offload crude oil.

Five ships, Kota Waris, Med Tai Chung, Sandos, Nord Strength and World Trust sailed out, while Hawk, LMZ Christina, Dainty River, M.M.M.Mersey, Mar Challenger and Pontos are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Berth occupancy at the dry wharves was maintained on the higher side at 54 per cent, it fell to 33 per cent on the oil piers.

Owing to larger handling of liquid tonnage including molasses and crude oil, the total tonnage rose to 0.140m tons comprising 31,749 tons of export cargo including 15,500 tons of molasses and 0.109m tons of import tonnage, which also included 73,591 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Grand Ocean-1, with 22,400 tons of DAP fertilizer, Al-Mariyah, with containers and Mercs Kandy, with 3,811 tons of sugar for Afghanistan.

KARACHI, Dec 17: Two ships carrying edible oil and furnace oil arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Tuesday.

Seven ships, Orhan Ekinci, City of Edengurgh, Docomo, Panamax Strength, Shou Ning Hai, Al-Maqwa and China Joy were at the berths loading/ offloading wheat, containers, edible oil, gerneral cargo, furnace oil and iron ore respectively.

A cargo volume of 67,095 tons comprising 13,762 tons of export including 4,854 tons of wheat and 53,333 tons of import cargo was handled.

Al-Maqwa sailed off while Panamax Strength was due to leave the port on Tuesday. Swallow was expected to take berth at Fotco Oil Terminal.
