KARACHI: Teams to monitor college admissions

KARACHI, Dec 13: The monitoring teams, constituted to examine the authenticity of admissions made to first-year classes in colleges under the centralized admission policy, will visit the colleges during winter vacation.

A senior official at the DOE (colleges) office said that 12 teams had been formed in line with the CAP-2002 which would visit colleges from Dec 23 to Jan 1 to check the authenticity of admissions. The committee would go through the list of admissions and ascertain whether they were carried out in accordance with the merit list issued by the centralized admission committee or not.

It was learnt that each team would consist of three college teachers and on each visit they would be accompanied by one representative of the city government. Each team would visit six to 12 colleges in different towns.

Meanwhile, a meeting of college principals has been convened by the DOE (colleges) at the Islamic Arts and Commerce College on Dec 14 at 11am to discuss the visit of the monitoring teams.

The committee had issued placement lists of about 70,000 students for admission to different faculties in colleges. The assessment by monitoring committees would help ascertain the exact numbers of first-year admissions.

The monitoring teams for the morning shift colleges are as under:

Team A - Prof Azizul Hassan, Prof Abdul Sattar Baloch and Prof Sarfaraz ALi Khan. Team B - Prof Jamil A. Shaikh, Prof Waseem Adil and Prof Arshad Jamal.

Team C - Prof Mohammad Rafi, Prof Mudassir Kamal and Prof Mohammad Suhail Siddiqi. D - Prof Izhar Hussain, Prof Khalid Iftikhar and Prof Maqbool Ahmed.

Team E - Prof Nasima Ahmed, Prof Riaz Rabbani and Prof Usuf Firoz. F - Prof Razia Zafar, Prof Mohammad Asghar Khan and Prof Khalida Shamim. G - Prof Mohammad Aslam Khan, Prof Ejazur Rehman and Prof Qaiser Shah.

Team H - Prof M. Jawed Siddiqui, Prof Anees Ahmed Zaidi and Prof Mazkoorur Rehman. I - Prof Riaz Ahsan, Prof Khalid Rizwan and Prof Abu Mubeen Khan. J - Prof Ilyas Soomro, Prof Kafeel Ahmed and Prof M. Monis Alvi.

Evening shift: A - Prof Zaheer Ahmed, Prof M.S.K. Lodhi and Prof Ghousia Abbasi. B - Prof S. Azher Haider Naqvi, Prof Surriya Mansoor and Prof Arifa Saeed.

Three representatives of the city government who have been authorized to accompany the teams are: Rehana Afroze, Shamim Mumtaz Wasi and Saifuddin.
