7 killed in Kashmir violence


SRINAGAR, Dec 12: Five Mujahideen and two civilians were killed, while 25 people were injured in a string of explosions and shootouts in occupied Kashmir on Thursday and Wednesday night.

Seven Indian soldiers were injured in Srinagar when Mujahideen triggered explosives attached to a bicycle, police and witnesses said.

Save Kashmir Movement and Al Naseereen claimed responsibility for the attack.

Fifteen other people were injured when a grenade was tossed at a patrol party in the town of Anantnag, police said.

Police said a civilian was killed and three others injured when militants fired a rocket towards an army camp in Shopian.

Indian forces claimed killing five members of the Hizbul Mujahideen in two encounters in Udhampur and Baramulla. On Thursday unknown men shot dead a Muslim civilian in Doda.—AFP
