GUJRANWALA, Dec 12: Five people were killed and 20 others sustained injuries in different road accidents in and around the city here on Thursday.
A speeding bus was on its way to Rawalpindi from Lahore. Near Koti village, Sadhoki on the GT Road, it rammed into a roadside tree when its driver lost control over the steering. Consequently, student Muhammad Nadim and trader Abdul Wahab died instantly while 20 others received injuries. They were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.
Cousins Akram and Sajid were crushed to death by a speeding bus on the Pasrur Road. They were on their way to Gujranwala from their Tariqian village by a motorcycle when the accident occurred near Talwandi Musa Khan. The former died on the spot while the latter died at the local DHQ Hospital.
Saddar police have arrested driver Anwar and are investigating.
Passer-by Nishan Masih was knocked down and killed by a speeding wagon on the Sialkot Road near Rawalpindi Bypass intersection. He was on his way to factory by his bicycle. The wagon crew escaped from the scene.
