Pakistan to attend trade moot at Sharjah


KARACHI, Nov 23: A large Pakistani delegation will participate in the 9th Islamic Private Sector Conference scheduled to be held at Sharjah, UAE, from December 21 to 23.

Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) are holding the conference in association with Tasmeen Communication Consultancy, UAE.

According to ICCI official here on Saturday, the objective of the summit was to promote trade and investment among the private sector of Islamic countries. The theme of the meeting for this year is “new vision and new vitality”.

The conference will encourage joint ventures among Islamic countries through bilateral and multilateral contacts, thus strengthening economic development of the Islamic Ummah.

The meeting will also provide a platform for industrial and trade collaboration between less developed and more developed Islamic countries.

The official said so far 46 delegations of Islamic countries had confirmed their participation at Sharjah conference. The Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) has 57 members and all of them are members of ICCI, he added.

He said that large Pakistani delegation would attend the conference this year and so far 40 organizations had confirmed there participation.

These are private banks, Modaraba Association of Pakistan, Pak-Kuwait Investment Bank, Board of Investment, Pakistan Ordnance Factory Wah Cantt, textiles mills, engineering, marble and granite, electronics, chemicals concerns, etc.

The delegations will make presentations about the investment climate in their respective countries at the conference.

Investors, traders, shipping companies, bankers, finance houses, multinationals and chambers of commerce and industry from Islamic world will attend the conference.—APP
