PESHAWAR, Nov 17: The traffic police have failed to overcome traffic jam problem on the important places of the city, especially in the morning and before Iftar.

The jams occur in the busy areas of the city despite the presence of the police personnel who, most of the time, remain detached.

The problem is caused by the encroachers who have occupied most of the parts of the footpaths and, at some places, even the roads.

Sabzi Mandi, Ghanta Gar, Shaheen Bazar and Karim Pura, are some example of the encroachments-hit areas and people, especially, the women and the children have to face problems while passing through these areas.

The problem becomes acute, as the time of Iftar approaches, in the busy squares of the city like, Suray Pull, Kabli Square, Shuba Chawk, Asamai Gate, Sadar Stadium Chawk etc.

The people have demanded of the government to take notice of the encroachments as well as to make the traffic police effective.—PPI
