PHDEB views on kinoo export invited

ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: The ministry of commerce has asked the Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Board (PHDEB) to come up with proposals with regard to kinoo export.

A senior official in the commerce ministry said on Friday that the board was expected to recommend its proposals by Saturday.

These proposals would be considered by the ministry, and would be finally annouced in the next two to three days, said the official.

The proposals were sought following the exporters of mangoes demand seeking immediate withdrawal of the ban on wooden crate imposed by the Export Promotion Bureau( EPB) causing harm to the export of major exportable fruit. They further warned that in case the restriction was not withdrawn, they might lose their orders.

The EPB imposed ban on use of wooden crates for export of kinoo, and allowed it only in cartons. It further said that export of kinoos would only be allowed in cartons of net weight of 10 kg and 13 kg and the net weight must be printed on cartons.
