KARACHI, Nov 15: Pakistani textile manufacturers can utilize Jordanian industrial zone for duty free and quota free export of garments to United States.

According to EPB, they will have a duty free and quota free access to US market for their textile garments at a competitive labour cost. Al-Tajamouat Industrial city which is a designated qualifying industrial zone, is located at Amman.

The US has extended duty free and quota free status to Jordan, and several international companies had already moved to this zone to avail this concession.

So far, 23 international garment manufacturers have invested in this zone and Pakistani manufacturers can also set up their production facilities to capitalise on this opportunity.

The zone will provide a quality industrial workspace with necessary infrastructure to investors in addition to financing facilities.

There is a zero income tax on exported goods, zero duty on machinery and fixed assets and zero duty on the import of raw materials in the zone.

The investors will enjoy a free transfer of convertible currency with 100 per cent foreign ownership of the projects and simple licensing procedure.—APP
