ISLAMABAD, Nov 7: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Thursday termed the reports of its deal with the government a part of ‘disinformation campaign’ aimed at driving a wedge into the party ranks.

“The objective behind the drive of a so-called secret deal between the PPP and the government is aimed at causing confusion and split within the party,” a People’s Party spokesman said in a statement.

“More than that it is also aimed at creating a mistrust between the PPP and other parties which in association with the ARD have vowed to restore the supremacy of parliament and the Constitution,” he added.

The spokesman said there was no secret deal between the PPP and the military regime, and there would never be. “Let there be no doubt about it”, he added

He condemned the reports as deliberate disinformation by the vested interest to subvert the recent forward movement in a broad-based understanding between the anti-regime political parties on the platform of the ARD.

He said after the failure the regime had postponed the convening of the National Assembly session scheduled for Friday to enable the King’s parties to muster the requisite strength in parliament through inducements, intimidation and coercion.
