LAHORE, Nov 5: An undefeated 74 by opener Ali Hussain, who shared a fourth-wicket partnership of  84 with Sohail Idrees, helped Sui Gas lift Kardar  Trophy Cricket Championship at Lahore Country Club in Muridke Tuesday.

Sui Gas won the final on the last day of the four-day match with a convincing six-wicket victory PTCL, according  to details available here.

Sui Gas, in the process, also qualified to play first-class cricket in the season of 2003-2004 in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Championship.

It was stunning comeback by Sui Gas after they had conceded first innings lead. Set to make 175, Sui Gas achieved victory in only 39.2 overs for the loss of four wickets in their second innings.

PTCL, on the other hand squandered their hopes of victory by getting themselves bundled out for just 141 in their second innings. On the final day, PTCL added 17 runs to their overnight total of 124 for nine.

Ali, who was adjudged Man-of-the-Match, stood firm after Sui Gas lost three wickets for 86. Ali, who also top-scored in the first innings with a polished 76, found a reliable partner in Sohail.

With only five runs needed, Sohail was out after making a rapid 48 off 40 deliveries with the aid of 10 hits to the fence.

Ali kept his cool to remain undefeated until the end. His superb 111-ball knock was laced with 10 boundaries.
