KARACHI: Experts urge steps to conserve wetlands


KARACHI, Nov 3: Environmentalists and scientists have expressed deep concern about the fate of 119 registered wetlands, six of them of global significance and others of national importance.

At a workshop held at the IUCN office as part of the ongoing efforts to compile the “Sindh Environment Profile” and review the existent status of wetlands in the province, experts strongly urged an efficient strategy for rehabilitation and conservation of wetlands being exposed to both manmade and natural threats at an alarming pace.—APP
