HYDERABAD, Oct 31: There is an abundance of scenic recreational and tourist spots in Sindh and all that is required is to develop and exploit these spots.

This was stated by the chief secretary, Sindh, K B Rind, during a meeting, held the other day at the irrigation guest house in Sehwan, to discus the development schemes of Gorakh Hill station.

He said that President Gen Pervez Musharraf would also be apprised of the plan to develop the Gorakh Hill tourist spot.

Rind called upon the NGOs and individuals to help develop the Gorakh Hill in the larger interest of the country.

He said that a play-land, fun-land and rest house would be established there besides provision of recreational facilities to the tourists and introduction of a helicopter service for the hill resort.

Meanwhile, the project director, Mohammad Ali Memon, and Engineer, Muneer Ahmed Soomro, informed the chief secretary that the development of the Gorakh Hill would be completed within two years at an estimated cost of Rs52 million.

They said that Rs18.08 million had been spent on the project till June, 2002.

Work on the project, they added, began on Oct 28, 1999.

They said a 14.5-kilometre-long road from Wahi Pandhi to the Gorakh Hill had been completed, adding that work on water supply and bridge was proceeding at a rapid pace.

The secretary culture and tourism, the DCOs of Nawabshah and Dadu and other officers were also present on the occasion.
