MADINA, Oct 30: Zaireen of different nationalities greeted President Pervez Musharraf when they saw him in their midst outside the Roza-i-Rasool (SAW) here on Wednesday morning.

The president thanked the people greeting him and waved back.

The large crowd of visitors, mainly Pakistanis, had gathered outside the main prayer precincts or stood on both sides of the pavements of the two furlong stretch, to have a glimpse of him.

“We have tried our best to do whatever we could towards the cherished cause of nation-building,” Gen Musharraf said, adding: “Pakistan certainly has a promising future ahead.”

He said he had offered special prayers for the progress, prosperity and advancement of Pakistan and well-being of the people and the Muslim Ummah.

Pakistanis abroad, he said, were ambassadors of the country and they must try to excel in the fields they were affiliated with and earn a good repute for themselves and for the motherland.

Earlier in Makkatul-Mukkaramah, he performed Umrah.—APP
