Priority given to maintain tracks

Published October 30, 2002

LAHORE, Oct 29: Top priority was being given to maintain both the Race tracks in standard condition.

This was stated by a spokesman of the Lahore Race Club (LRC) while commenting on what he called the allegations levelled by the horse owners that the LRC was not maintaining the Racecourse properly.

The spokesman said that the LRC stewards had on occasions been examining the tracks, particularly whenever a runner went lame during a race.

Prominent owner, Khawaja M. Atif alongwith a group of other owners had accused the LRC for not properly looking after the course and said due to uneven surface a number of horses went lame. The recent instance they had quoted was that of favourite Turn On, who went lame Sunday last. — A. G.
