PESHAWAR, Oct 28: An additional district and sessions judge, Sardar Mohammad Irshad, has summoned DIG Khursheed Alam, SSP Ishtiaq Marwat and other police officers for conducting an alleged illegal raid on a residence and taking away household goods from there.

The notices were issued to the police officials for Nov 2, on a complaint filed by Munawar Sultana, wife of Arbab Abdul Aziz, who is a local leader of the PML-N and Pasban.

She claimed the police had conducted an illegal raid on her residence and started indiscriminate firing, which had resulted in killing of a boy outside the house. She requested the court to take action against the police party responsible and to help recover their goods.

But the police claimed they had received reports that Arbab Abdul Aziz was running a gambling and narcotics den in his hujra.

They also alleged that when the raiding party had reached the house, Arbab Aziz and his sons had taken positions on the rooftop and started firing on the police force, which had resulted in death of the boy and injuries to various policemen.

Sultana had earlier filed the complaint before the court of a judicial magistrate who referred it to the district and sessions judge, observing that the court had no jurisdiction to entertain it.

The complainant stated that the police party including Sub-inspector Jamrood Khan and ASI Bukhtiar had entered her house without any warrant, and when her husband had asked the reason of their raid, they had abused and manhandled him.

She claimed the police had also manhandled women in the house, demolished the boundary wall of their residence.
