DADU, Oct 26: Eight devotees of Hazrat Qalandar Lal Shahbaz were killed and 70 others injured when two wagons carrying them collided on Saturday evening, on Indus Highway at Chowdagi bridge, some 20km from here.

A wagon (R-0096) was carrying people to Sehwan Sharif from Larkana to attended the second day celebrations of Urs of the saint. When the vehicle arrived at the bridge, it collided with another wagon (No.992288) which was taking the devotees to their homes.

The dead were identified as Ghulam Haider Mangi, 25, resident of Shahdadkot; Mumtaz Ali Abro, 40, of Noohani Mohalla, Larkana; Javed, 35, of Larkana; Illahi Bux Mughiri of village Barani taluka Larkana and Akhtiar Ali Shaikh, 35, of Larkana.

Names of the three others killed in the accident could not be ascertained. Their ages were 16, 55 and 26.

The bodies are kept in the Civil Hospital Dadu.All the 70 injured were admitted to Civil Hospital Dadu where the condition of 20 of them was stated to be serious.

The seriously injured were identified as Amjad Qureshi, Mohammad Yousuf Lashari, Fida Hussain Lohar, Khalid Ahmed, Khalid Hussain, Manzoor Shaikh, Ali Anwar, Imdad Ansari, Amanullah Murkand, Moharram Khoso, Malook Shahani, Amanullah, Abdullah, Gulshan, Ahmed Nawaz, Abid Hussain, Haider Ali, Roshan Ali, Ahmed Nawaz Khoso and Amjad Qureshi.

Hospital sources told Dawn that 10 of the seriously injured would be shifted to Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana; Peoples Medical College, Nawabshah, and Liaquat Medical University Hospital, Jamshoro.
