KARACHI: MSc (final) exam results announced

KARACHI, Oct 25: The University of Karachi on Friday announced the results of MSC (final) annual examinations 2001 for college students, with a pass percentage of 69.58.

In all, 240 students belonging to the Federal Govt Urdu Science College had appeared in Geology, Geography, Physics, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry examinations, out of whom 167 were declared pass.

The top three position holders are: Geology - Asma Kausar Khan, first; Mohammad Akbar, second; Zubaida, third. Geography - Farhat Jabeen, first; Syeda Sabeen Hafeez, second; Mohammad Shahid, third. Physics, Mohammad Kashif, first. Mathematics - Mohammad Ismail, first. Botany - Hina Ikram, first; Irum Naz, second, Ashiq Ali, third. Zoology - Lubna Ali, first; Samina Iqbal, second; Nurun Nisa-third. Chemistry, Nuzhat Arshad, first, Mohammad Khurrum, second and Sitara Jabeen, third.

MBA programme: The University of Karachi has announced its decision to offer Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) classes in its evening programme from the next academic session, add agencies.

Earlier, the courses were offered only in the morning session at the Department of Business Administration.

Application forms and prospectus for admissions, both on merit and donors’ seats, could be obtained between Oct 25 and 26 from the UBL counter at the main silver jubilee gate and would be submitted back during the same period and at the same venue.

Those students who have already submitted forms for admissions on merit seats in the morning session need not to re-apply.

CELEBRATIONS: Karachi University will mark the centenary birth celebrations of one of its former vice-chancellors, Dr Ishtiaq Hussain Qureshi, who was born in 1902.

A spokesman for the University said poems, essays and photo contests among students would be part of the celebrations.

Entries can be submitted by Oct 31 at the office of the Students’ Adviser. The results of the competition would be announced by a panel of judges on Nov 30.

SEMINAR: The Department of Microbiology is organizing a lecture-cum-discussion on “Recent Advances in the Diagnosis and Control of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis”, on Saturday at the conference room, Dean Faculty of Arts.

Dr Salman Siddiqui from the Becton Dickinson Medical Laboratories, Baltimore, (USA) will deliver a lecture on the subject.

Dr Siddiqui is a renowned expert on TB diagnosis and a former student of the KU Department of Microbiology.
