KARACHI, Oct 25: The Chief Secretary, Sindh, K.B. Rind, has appreciated private sector’s role in augmenting government’s endeavours in the field of education and in raising literacy rate in the country.

Speaking at the engineering and business university scholarship awarding ceremony, held here the other day under the auspices of Siemens Pakistan, Mr Rind said that philanthropist institutions would have to play a tangible role in eradicating illiteracy from society.

He urged all the students who excelled in their respective fields and secured awards to accord foremost priority to serve the country after completing their education.

In his welcome address earlier, the MD of Siemens, Sohail Wajahat, recounted the organization’s sincere efforts in achieving the goal of ensuring and making available a high standard education to maximum possible people in Pakistan.

Mansoor Farooqui, Ziaul Islam Zuberi and several other officials of the company also spoke on the occasion.

Prominent among those who attended the ceremony were Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education, Dr Sharif Memon and Administrator of Auqaf department, Naukhaiz Anwer Siddiqui.—PPI
