Navy make clean sweep

ISLAMABAD, Oct 19: Navy made a clean sweep of all the nine gold medals that were decided on the opening day of the All-Pakistan Islamabad Open Canoeing Championship at the Rawal Lake Saturday.

Mangla Canoe Club, with nine silver medals were in second place on the table followed by Islamabad Canoe Club, who won eight bronze.

The finals contested Saturday were kayak-one, kayak-two, kayak-four, Canadian-one, Canadian-two over 1000m, Canadian-one and Canadian-two over 500m. Competitions in kayak-one and kayak- two over 200m were also held.

Over 100 canoeists, representing six teams are taking part in the two-day championship.
