KARACHI: Labour policy aims at facing globalization

KARACHI, Oct 19: The federal secretary labour, Farhat Husain, said here on Saturday that the new labour policy had been formulated to face the challenges of globalization and the World Trade Organization.

He was speaking as chief guest at the closing ceremony of the 43rd 24-week post-graduate diploma course in labour administration and industrial welfare at the National Institute of Labour Administration Training.

Mr Husain said the new labour policy was unique in its nature as it had been prepared after consultation with all stakeholders, including workers, employers and government. It was a very difficult job to finalize the policy, when three sectors were involved, he added.

The policy has been formulated after a gap of 30 years and the government had ensured to address the issues of social accountability, including child labour and bonded labour.

He appreciated the efforts of NILAT in providing quality training to labour managers and officials concerned of both private and public sector organizations.— APP
